$1257 		Better Late San Francisco Date, Golden Coloring, Frosty Cartwheel Luster, City by The Bay Collection.. The 1886-S F-101 die pair is much more frequently encountered than the rare F-102. On the F-101 obverse, the date slopes down while the 8 digit is well centered under the pendant. Both the obverse and reverse dies are free of defects. This date is notably scarce in the lower Mint State grades with only 4 certified by PCGS at MS62 followed by 7 in MS63. The CAC population is surprisingly low with only 20 approved in all grades. Surfaces offer frosty luster and golden shades when examined under a bright light. The strike is crisp and completely executed, atypical for the With Legend hub design.
