 Original $1500 Civil War San Francisco Issue, Thick Frosted Luster, Speckled Gray Toning, Twin Lakes Collection. When any of the Civil War San Francisco dates appear on the market in higher AU grades, collectors will take notice. Such is the case for the Twin Lakes 1864-S offering. This piece features thick mint bloom across both sides resulting in a frosted luster experience during bright light inspection. Some specked gray appears on the obverse periphery while the reverse less so. Strike is typical of the issue with weak head details. An obverse line in the lower wreath precludes a higher quality rating. Housed in PCGS Gen 5.0 (2015) holder.
